From July 23rd to August 20th, Cortina d’Ampezzo once again transforms itself into the high-altitude capital of international classical music, with a dense calendar of concerts and artists that range from internationally acclaimed stars, to the brightest, young musicians of tomorrow. In this very special fifth year, the Festival celebrates the 70th anniversary of Dino Ciani, and features big name musicians such as András Schiff, Uto Ughi and the violinists from Tokyo’s Toho Gakuen School of Music.

From June 30th to July 2nd in Milan, Venice and Bologna, the American pianist Jeffrey Swann will play three pre-Festival concerts as a teaser to the fourth edition of the Festival dedicated to the memory of Dino Ciani.

One of the Festival's objectives is to reach out to younger audiences. For this reason, the Festival has initiated a series of informal lectures with the local high schools. Specifically, two conferences have been programmed: one in Cortina's 'Istituto d'Arte' on May 12 and the other in the neighboring town of San Vito di Cadore's 'Sala Polifunzionale' on May 13. Both of these events will be conducted by Jeffrey Swann, internationally reknown concert pianist and Artistic Director of the Dino Ciani Festival.

A resounding success for the Dino Ciani pre-festival event 'En memoria de Dino Ciani' at the Italian Cultural Institute in Madrid which served as a preview for the 2010 program. Guests included the Italian Ambassador in Spain and Paloma O'Shea, President of Madrid's 'Escuela Superior de Musica Reina Sofia'.

On April 22, the Dino Ciani Association launches its 2010 pre-Festival events at the Italian Cultural Institute in Madrid. An evening dedicated to the great Italian pianist entitled 'En memoria de Dino Ciani' (In memory of Dino Ciani), will feature a piano recital by Claudio Martinez-Mehner, winner of the 1993 'Premio Dino Ciani' at Milan's La Scala, professor at Madrid's 'Escuela Superior de Musica Reina Sofia' and at the 'Conservatorio de Aragón'.
There will also be a brief introduction and descpription of the Dino Ciani Festival in Cortina by Caterina Ciani, Dino Ciani's niece and the Director of the Festival.

The Dino Ciani Academy, which was officially inaugurated last year, will take place in Cortina d’Ampezzo during the Dino Ciani Festival, from July 25th to August 8th 2010. The summer course opens its doors to young pianists and singers between the ages of 18 and 35, and includes workshops and masterclasses with world renowned professors, musicologists, and professional musicians. This year the festival introduces a Mahler / Schumann lieder workshop for pianists and singers during the second week of the course. Classes will be held by Claudio Desderi.
