Khatia Buniatishvili

Khatia Buniatishvili was born in Tbilisi in 1987. After graduating from the Tbilisi Central Music School she entered Tbilisi State Conservatory in 2004 (under Professor Tengiz Amiredjibi). Now she studies at the University of Music and Performing Arts in Vienna under Professor Oleg Maisenberg.
Since the age of 6 she has been playing recitals as well as performing with orchestras. Since 1999 she has been performing abroad. She has played concerts in Czech Republic, Austria, Switzerland, France, Russia, Belgium, USA and many other countries of the world. Among her significant performances should be noted:
  • Charity concerts in Austria - “Sos-kinderdorf”1999, France - at the Théatre des Champs-Elysées 2001
  • Invitations to the Verbier International Festival 2003, 2004
  • The concert tour in Geneva, Zurich, Nantes and Brussels, where she performed Chopin’s Piano, Concerto no.2 with the UBS Verbier Festival Chamber Orchestra 2005
  • Concerts in Georgia – 14th and 15th International Festival "Autumn Tbilisi" in Djansug Kakhidze, Tbilisi Center for Music and Culture, where she played Tchaikovsky’s, Piano Concerto no.1 and Chopin’s Concerto no.2 with Tblisi Symphony, Orchestra, conductor,Vakhtang Kakhidze
  • Concerts in Russia - recital in the Small Hall of the Moscow State Conservatoire 2006, the Musical Olympus International Festival in Grand Hall of the St. Petersburg Philharmonia, where she played Tchaikovsky’s Piano Concerto no.1 with St. Petersburg Philharmonic Orchestra 2006
  • Concerts in Switzerland - les “Sommets Musicaux de Gstaad” 2006, in France - festival “Les Nouveaux Solistes aux Serres d’Auteuil 2005”; ”l’Auditorium du Louvre” 2006,

Khatia Buniatishvili is the prize-winner of several national and international piano competitions. At the Horowitz International Piano Competition she was awarded with the special prize “New Names” 2003.

She is the winner of the concert series “Les Jeudis du Piano” in Geneva 2003, the R.Rozhok and E.Gurevich National Piano Competition in Tbilisi 2004, the Second prize winner along with the Special Prize for Artistry at the III Tbilisi International Piano competition 2005.

In 2003 Khatia Buniatishvili was granted the Elizabeth Leonskaya scholarship. The same year she was invited to take part in the Francois-Rene Duchable’s master-classes in Paris, as well as Claude Frank’s in Verbier.

Khatia Buniatishvili is the BSI bank scholarship holder.
