Giedre Dirvanauskaite
Giedre Dirvanauskaite was born in Kaunas, in a family of musicians. In 1995, she graduated from the M.K.Ciurlionis Art Gymnasium where she studied cello with the Romanas Armonas and entered the Lithuanian Academy of Music and Theatre to study with Prof. Saulius Sondeckiene. Giedre Dirvanauskaite is the laureate of several national competitions; she has attended master classes held by Mstislav Rostropovich,Hatto Beyerle, Tatjana Grindenko, and others.
The cellist has participated in music festivals in Lithuania and abroad: the international music festival Sugrizimai,the chamber music festival in Gstaad and "les museiques" in Basel (Switzerland); Since 1997 she has been regularly participating in the Lockenhaus Chamber Music Festival in Austria,where she had the the opportunity to perform in chamber ensembles together with artists like Mate Bekavac, David Geringas, Heiz Holliger, Gidon Kremer, Boris Pergamenschikov, Lukas Hagen and many others.
As a soloist she has played with the Lithuanian National Symphony Orchestra, Lithuanian Chamber Orchestra, Armenian Philharmonic orchestra, the Kiev Chamber Orchestra with the conductors - Juozas Domarkas, Roman Kofman, Andres Mustonen, Esa-Pekka Salonen and Robertas Servenikas, Saulius Sondeckis.
Giedre Dirvanauskaite has performed with a number of symphony orchestras in Germany, Belgium, USA and regularly participated in the Orchestral Ensemble Kanazawa (Japan) activities and tours.
Since 1997, she has been a founding and permanent member of the chamber orchestra Kremerata Baltica,with which she continues to tour worldwide.
In January 2005, Giedre Dirvanauskaite was as well Kremerata Baltica soloist at the international music fair MIDEM in Cannes (France).
In recent years Giedre Dirvanauskaite has extensively toured with many different chamber music formations (mainly piano trio and quartets)playing with pianists like A.Zlabys,Sa Chen,K.Buniatishwili.For some years she was along with some other Kremerata Baltica musicians a member of the "Kremeratini" String Quartet.
Lately she has performed as well at various festivals-in China, Japan,Russia,Italy etc. with soloists like G.Kremer,M.Argerich,Y.Bashmet,M.Lethiec,M.Portal.
