Only a few days left to the beginning of the 8th edition of the Dino Ciani Festival and preparations are brewing in Cortina. On Monday July 28 the concerts begin with the Young Pianists of the Junior Academy and of the Sr. Academy who come from all over the world (USA, Norway, Germany, Switzerland, Austria, UK, Spain and Israel), including obviously Italy. On Tuesday July 29 Massimiliano Finazzer Flory returns to the stage, at the Miramonti Hotel in Cortina, with Jeffrey Swann for a fascinating futurist evening which serves as a logical continuation of last year’s Festival performance. Finally on July 31 the Festival Inaugural Concert will be held in the Acoustic Shell in Piazza Dibona (in case of bad weather the concert will be held in Alexander Girardi Hall) featuring an evening of performances with Jeffrey Swann Artistic Director at the piano, the voice of Madelyn Renée (who will sing a mixed selection of international songs from the period of the Great War), the Cortina Choir and readings by Corrado Tedeschi of letters of Ampezzani soldiers leaving for the war front.
The calendar this year is rich with new and various events, including film, literature and jazz. We are particularly happy to announce a special event organized in partnership with Una Montagna di Libri, the book festival that brings the best Italian and international authors to Cortina. On August 20, at Alexander Girardi Hall, we will jointly host Ramin Bahrami, the celebrated pianist from Iran who will present his book “The Sound of the West”. On this very special evening Mr. Bahrami, who is considered to be one of the great modern interpreters of Bach, will also treat us to a short performance of the great German composer. We are especially happy about our partnership with Una Montagna di Libri, one of the most important cultural institutions in Cortina, which allows us to present a great international artist outside of the regular Festival period.
For more information on the program you can find us every day from 10:30 a.m. – 12:30 p.m. and from 5:00 p.m. – 7:00 p.m. at the Info Point on Corso Italia, in front the Sovilla bookstore or, in case of bad weather, at the Modern Art Museum Mario Rimoldi where you can buy tickets and a season pass. You can also buy tickets online at www.vivaticket.it and, one hour before the event, at the venue of the performance.
We look forward to seeing you and are available to answer any questions you may have. We are eager to get to know you in person and to get your feedback so that we can ensure that the Festival continues to be a stimulating cultural event that meets your highest expectations.
