July 26-August 12, 2012
Cortina d’Ampezzo is considered to be one of the world’s most beautiful mountain resorts. The goal of the Dino Ciani Academy is to give our young artists the opportunity to develop their art, work on repertoire, live and breathe in a musical environment, and perform with top musicians at an international festival.
The Dino Ciani Academy, founded in 2009, will run throughout the Dino Ciani Festival in Cortina d’Ampezzo from July 26 to August 12, 2012 and will bring together young pianists, professors, musicologists and performers. The students will attend master classes and have free entry to all the concerts and conferences of the festival. They will also have the opportunity to perform in the Young Artists Concert Series organized just for them, as part of the Festival program. These will be held both in Cortina and in the surrounding towns.
Just as in 2011, a violin and chamber music workshop will be held with Pavel Berman (violin), Jeffrey Swann (piano) and Claudio Martinez Mehner (piano), during the second week of the festival. Each academy pianist and violinist who attends the second week of the course must be prepared to perform chamber music for his/her instrument.
The following professors will teach master classes at the 2012 Dino Ciani Academy:
- Emanuele Arciuli, July 28-August 4
- Hamish Milne, August 5-12
- Angela Hewitt, August 3 (Special Festival Artist Masterclass)
- Jeffrey Swann, July 26-August 12
- Claudio Martinez Mehner, July 26-August 12
- Violin and Chamber Music Workshop with Pavel Berman (violin), August 5-12
